ACCOMPLISHMENTS
QUALITY CUSTOMER SERVICE
Quality Customer Service is our #1 priority in the Clerk’s Department. As a TEAM we go above and beyond to service the residents in Macomb Township. The Clerk’s office is considered “the HUB” for our residents and we work diligently to answer questions, accommodate voters and provide solutions. I have improved our services to the voters in Macomb Township by adding a convenient drive-up ballot drop box, implemented user friendly voting equipment, assisted voters with no reason mail-in voting, offer email ballot tracking and improved the training for our dedicated election inspectors that assist us on election day.
ROADS
Actively involved on the Macomb Township Roads Committee which resulted in the approval of mitigation and safety measures on 21 mile road, replacement bridge on 22 mile road over the Salt Slang Gloede Drain, extension of a new two-lane road on Garfield road from 22 to 23 mile road, roundabout work at the intersection of 25 mile / Romeo Plank and widening 23 mile road resulting in a five lane road with curbs, sidewalks, signs, traffic signals, and ADA ramps.
PUBLIC SAFETY
In 2020 a new 37,400 square foot Public Safety Building will be servicing Macomb Township! I voted to increase our Full-Time Firefighter and Paid-on-Call staff and to increase the number of Sheriff Deputies servicing Macomb Township residents. I also initiated street light installation on the Dakota, Cheyenne, Ojibwa, Seneca and L’Anse Creuse campuses. This initiative included expediting sidewalk gap closures on our walkways to the schools to ensure the safety of the students.
SENIOR & VETERAN SERVICES
I am an advocate for senior activites and voted in favor of outdoor pickleball courts and requested temporary courts to be available during the construction. I am extremely proud of the programs we offer our seniors through parks & recreation. I also voted YES to extend our SMART transportation service for the seniors and veterans.
PUBLIC ACCESSIBILILITY
I know how important accessibility to public information is to our residents. Since I took office residents have access to Board of Trustee packets, vendor contracts and bidding information on our website. The ZBA and Planning Commission meetings are recorded and broadcasted on our cable channel and website. The FOIA coordinator responsibility was returned to the Clerk’s office and excessive fees were drastically reduced. I initiated an audit of the purchasing department, implemented additional quality checks and added a Purchasing Specialist to our staff to develop a secure process for bidding and contracts. Lastly, I voted in favor of the Ethics Ordinance.
PROMOTING STRONG BUSINESS GROWTH
I continually work with business owners and developers to ensure we have a balance of commercial, industrial and residential development in our community. I plan to promote downtown Macomb Township in the next four years and develop a strong, vibrant, business community.
